Elizabeth Gilthvedt, OD
“Dr. Beth” grew up in Oklahoma City, OK and Nisswa, MN. She attended the University of Wyoming, Brainerd Community College, St. Cloud State University and Phillips University. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. In 1985 she graduated with High Honors and was awarded her Doctorate of Optometry from the Indiana University School of Optometry. She received several student academic / clinical awards and scholarships. Following graduation Dr. Beth began practicing optometry at Family Vision Care in Owatonna, MN in June 1985. In 1988 she purchased the practice of Dr. John Schoen, as he retired, and opened the Gilthvedt EyeCare Clinic at 118 No Oak Ave, Owatonna. In 1993, Dr. Beth joined Dr. Christine Leska at Kasson Eye Care as a part-time associate. Dr. Beth is Board Certified in the treatment and management of ocular diseases and disorders. She was chosen as the Minnesota Optometric Association’s Optometrist of the Year for 2007. Dr. Beth is a member of the American Optometric Association and is very involved on the state level in the Minnesota Optometric Association and the SouthEast Minnesota Optometric Society, having served the quality assurance, professional education and Minnesota State Fair committees. Dr. Beth enjoys making presentations about optometry and eye health care to students in local schools, to parents in Early Childhood and Family Education classes and to senior citizen groups as well as participating in community health and safety fairs. As a committed volunteer in her community, Dr. Beth has also devoted many years of service to a variety of local groups serving as a director or trustee of the Steele County United Way, the Owatonna Montessori Children’s House and the Owatonna Hospital, Allina Health System. She is currently serving on the board of the Children's Remedial Fund. She is also an active member of the Owatonna Rotary Club having served as Rotary Youth Exchange Officer and Youth Counselor. Dr. Beth is also a member of the Owatonna Business and Professional Women’s organization serving on the scholarship awards committee. Dr Beth and her husband, “Pastor Ron” Gilthvedt, live in rural Owatonna with their son, Eric. She is an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where her husband served as head pastor from June 1985, until his retirement in August of 2009.

Christine A. Leska, OD
Dr. Leska is a native Minnesotan, born in Mankato and raised in St. Paul and Minneapolis. She was co-valedictorian of her high school class. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Biology at St. Mary's College in Winona (now known as St. Mary's University of Minnesota). She chose optometry as her career because of her interest in math and the sciences and her desire to work with people.
In 1980, she was awarded her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington, IN. She returned to Minnesota in 1981 to practice optometry. She was named the Minnesota Optometrist of the Year in 1996 for her volunteer work for the Minnesota Optometric Association.
She is married with three children and two grandchildren, and resides in Byron, MN.

Nicholas Vincelli, O.D.
Dr. Nick Vincelli was born and raised in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He attended Southwest Minnesota State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology in 2001. Dr. Vincelli then received his Degree of Doctor of Optometry, Magna Cum Laude, in 2005 from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL.
Since 2005, Dr Vincelli has practiced optometry in southern Minnesota. He joined Horizon EyeCare in 2009. He is a member of both the Minnesota Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Vincelli is also a member of the Tomb and Key Honor Fraternity and the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.
Dr. Vincelli's hobbies include reading, golfing, volunteering, watching MN sports teams, and spending time with his family. He resides in Owatonna with his wife, Amy, who is originally from Pipestone, MN. She has her own business, Vincelli Designs & Decor, selling handmade arts/crafts online.
Dr. Vincelli is passionate about Optometry and helping others. He is very caring and enjoys talking with and getting to know his patients. Dr. Vincelli truly believes and takes pride in giving helpful and professional care to his patients.

Kathy-Optician :
Kathy has been in the optical field for 18 years. She joined Horizon Eye Care in 2001 as our optical team leader. She is O.P.A.T. certified (optometric assistant and technician) and attends continuing education classes, in the classroom and on-line, to keep up with today’s optical technology. She is also working on her ABO(American board of opticianry) certification. She is an expert in frame and lens technology and will be happy to assist you in selecting your new eyewear.

Rachel-Optician :
Rachel joined Horizon Eyecare Professionals in 2002 as an Optician. She came to our office with over 10 years of customer service experience. She is currently working towards her optical certification, and attends continuing education classes to keep up on today’s optical technology. Rachel will be a great help in selecting stylish frames that are perfect for you!

Sarah-Optometric Assistant:
Sarah has worked in the healthcare field since 2000. She joined the Horizon EyeCare team in 2008 as a Clinic/Contact Lens Technician. Sarah will be meeting with you before you see the doctor to go over complete medical history and administer a variety of other tests. As a contact lens technician, she will be available to educate patients on the proper techniques and care needed when wearing contacts. Sarah also attends continuing education courses throughout the year for the highest quality of patient care.

Terri-Optometric Assistant:
Terri joined the Horizon EyeCare team in 2008 as a Clinic/Contact Lens Technician with over ten years of healthcare experience. Terri will prepare patients for examinations prior to seeing the doctor. She will assist with patient education concerning contact lenses as well as any other eye health concerns that you may have. Terri attends many continuing education courses to provide the best patient care available.

Shirlene-Front Desk Receptionist
Shirlene is part of our front desk team, joining our office in May of 2008. With several years of customer service background, Shirlene’s goal is to make your office visit a pleasurable experience. She will help you with the checking in process before your exam, and answer any questions you may have. Shirlene will also assist you with scheduling an appointment and taking payments.

Janet-Front Desk:
Janet joined the Horizon EyeCare team as a Front Desk Receptionist in 2010. She has many years of customer service experience. She will assist you with scheduling your appointments, verifying your insurance eligibility, and answering any questions that you may have. Janet also assists the doctors in managing all patient record information.

Dawn-Financial Coordinator:
Dawn joined our team in 2005. She has several years experience in customer service, accounts payable and accounts receivable. She regularly participates in Medicare and insurance seminars, to stay current with the ever-changing filing procedures. Dawn is available to answer questions concerning your account and insurance claims. She also assists with front desk procedures when needed.
